is it just me or is this pingback thing completely useless? the only notifications it sends is when i link to my own posts. which is stupid, if you think about it. am i doing something wrong?

I've been notified when other people have linked to my posts! But someone said somewhere that for pingbacks to work, both you and the linker have to have pingbacks enabled. Which, yeah, stupid. But I don't know if it's true and I haven't bothered to research it. >.>
