watched the episode. wasn't going to, but chatting with [livejournal.com profile] annundriel as i watched prevented me from getting distracted and wandering off in the middle of it.

SO WHAT'S THIS OMG!

CROWLEY BEING ALIVE?

CAS AND CROWLEY WORKING TOGETHER?

THE KIDS DEAN AND SAM SAVED AND PUT US THROUGH AN INCREDIBLY UNSUBTLE ~I SEE OURSELVES IN THEM~ MOMENT WITH PROTECTIVE OLDER BROTHER AND EMOTIONAL REUNION WITH FATHER FIGURE INCLUDED... BEING EVIL?

I CANNOT EVEN DEAL WITH ALL THESE SHOCKING REVEALS!

seriously, though. it wasn't a boring episode, but the element of surprise is kind of lost when you've been seeing this shit coming since episode 10.

other things of note:

- the cringe-worthy "it's not like he lives in my ass" moment. sorry, but the cheap d/c pandering has been driving me up the wall this season. the lady thinking they were a couple was funnier and more bearable.

- since when does dean care that cas is busy anyway?

- i don't know if cas torturing the monster for info was supposed to make us go all "OH NOES" or not, but i was (again) not surprised. we know angels are no strangers to torture, and cas has been on both ends of it before.

- sam didn't get to do much, didn't he?

- is jefferson starships a meme yet? it should be.

- [livejournal.com profile] annundriel pointed out the dean and sam's desire to protect the kids even though it deviates from their main plan mirrors cas' situation with the winchesters. i dunno if cas realizes that, though. he was pretty annoyed with dean insistence on it.

- eve dying so easily felt kind of... well, easy. there just wasn't enough build-up to it, but the same can be said for everything else going on.

i have no idea how the rest of the season is going to play out, but to be honest i'm just.. going with it. i'm not OH GOD FUCK EVERYTHING about it, but i'm not really excited either. i'm just waiting to see how it goes.

I felt the same way as you about the "get out of my ass" scene. Cheap fanservice doesn't impress me at all. It felt forced, like the writers were throwing a bone to us D/C shippers, so we wouldn't be so enraged with what would happen later.

Personally, my favourite moment was when Dean defended Cas from Sam and Bobby's suspicions. I loved that.

Anyway, I thought it was a great episode. Id made my heart clench, but that's what good storytelling is supposed to do, right?

YES. i can see you trying to distract us, writers, but i can tell when i'm being baited :|

yeah, i would have loved it if it wasn't obvious that they're setting dean up for disappointment next episode. like, nice sentiment, but we all know what's going to happen.
