When I was once again enjoying the incredible “Warm Me Up”, it occurred to me that I could look around in your journal, and I was surprised to realise that I hadn’t friended you yet. Your name looked familiar and your small gift gave me the impression that you simply had to be one of the most famous R/S artists. Besides, when I got the exceptionally lovely comment on my gift from you, I felt I had known you for some time.

Now I just have to friend you to make sure I won’t miss any art by you. I like you Remus/Harry and Sirius/Harry pictures, too, even though I don’t like those pairings.

Well, in case we really haven’t known each other... I seldom make other than fic entries, and everything in my journal is related to my fanfic writing or other people’s Remus fic or art. In general I update seldom, so I won’t clutter your flist, if you want to friend me back.

I’ve written fanfic about Remus since autumn 2003, and his story is actually the only fanfic I care to write. Besides a huge WiP, it consists of a slowly growing number of short stories, each of which can be read separately as well. I read mainly low-rated R/S as well as genfic featuring Remus or Sirius, and it’s not easy for me to like anything based on HBP or DH. I haven’t written many short stories set in pre-Azkaban era yet, and the vivid image you’ve given to me about what Remus and Sirius shared before the lost years will probably influence my writing. Thank you! Oh, and thank you for reccing Almost Dark Again here, among other gift fics. The rec was a wonderful surprise.

Hello!
I'm far from famous, at least in my opinion! And I'm the opposite, sometimes I update obnoxiously often (well, I think I'm annoying everyone if I post more than twice a day). But! I'll definitely friend you back.

No, thank *you*! You've made my day, Really. And I'm glad you like my other art, even if the pairings aren't your cup of tea.

Well, you must at least be well on your way to fame now as your gift is by far the most beloved piece of work on rs small gifts. Your posting certainly won’t annoy me. (I hope you didn’t think about it that way aroud when I talked about cluttering.) A lot of my old friends have moved on to other fandoms, so I’m used to not paying too much attention to such entries on my flist which can’t interest me, while I enjoy seeing something going on all the time when I’m online.

I particularly like both your older Sirius and Remus in those pictures with Harry. I suppose I should post proper comments, but I’m slow at composing reviews.

After seeing Warm Me Up, I was happy I had (when writing Almost Dark Again) not looked into my Sirius’s bedroom yet at all. Now (after my Remus has moved in) it can look like in your painting. But there is more to it than that. As I must have said to you in my feedback, there are whole lives and stories to be imagined around the moment and place and the characters you’ve depicted in rich detail and dimensions.

Oh no, I don't mind it when people make multiple postings daily, but I feel weird about doing it myself. Strange double standard, I know. :)

I should draw older Remus and Sirius more often. I love drawing them older, but I don't do it much. Lack of ideas, I guess.

I sometimes feel weird when posting further comments on irresistibly inspiring replies to my comments.

Lack of ideas, I guess.
Perhaps some post-Azkaban fanfic could give you new ideas. No, I’m not so shameless that I’d say here much more about my fanfic (which you can find easily through a chronological list of links in my profile).

Oh? Well, I remember a scene in one you your fics where Remus and Sirius were sitting in the backyard of 12 GP that left a lovely mental image. Maybe I could put that into paper one day. Or maybe you have a better one?

I do like illustrating fics, when I have time at least.

Oh?
Yes: oh! Seriously, I’m thrilled whenever I hear about any lasting mental images evoked by my writing, and it’ll be a dream come true, if an artist shows such an image to others. But I didn’t dare to suggest more directly that you illustrate a scene in a fic by me, even though our discussion had gone to that direction.

I would have liked to suggest the fic you have in mind: His Face Shines in the Gloom of My Parents’ House (http://www.livejournal.com/users/paulamcg/4940.html). Perhaps because the overall situation in that story is so close to canon that an illustration could work for such HP fans, too, who haven’t heard of my fanfic at all. The setting (in case you are inspired by a backyard scene) is an extrapolation from the interior we see in OotP, but not too far from it. This fic is perhaps the shippiest I’ve written, and [livejournal.com profile] jazzypom has said it’s my best story ever. [livejournal.com profile] ishonn, too, has been particularly impressed by this fic – and by the line which refers to the moment of your mental image: An arm around my shoulders, only for a moment. And it fills the desert of my mind for unbearable stretches of time.

Now that I read the paragraph in which I narrate the moment of Remus and Sirius sitting on the steps, I’m surprised that Remus doesn’t look at Sirius. From the first word of the paragraph (starting But now when) Remus and I hurry to take the plot forward: he’s now interested in the yard, where he hasn’t bothered to come before; he’s looking around for a spot for an anise cultivation, which is probably a unique scenario in OotP era R/S fic and art. I’d say that you can take as much artistic liberty you want to, so as to show the image in the way it has stayed in your mind.

So you can see I’m more than thrilled, and I hope you’ll have the time! I can make other suggestions later, if you want me to. In my mind I obviously have innumerable images which could be made clearer by an artist, but I suppose you’ll enjoy illustrating what has particularly inspired you, and catching the images the text has evoked in your mind.

It is, first of all, a wonderful surprise that you’ve read His Face Shines in the Gloom of My Parents’ House. I usually get few but extensive comments. However, I appreciate comments of any length, and on any fic, no matter how old it is. Perhaps my inordinately long replies scare some potential commentors off. On the other hand, I’ve just noticed that exceptionally I failed to reply to some further comments on this particular fic last spring (so I’ll enjoy starting to compose my replies now), and I just hope this hasn’t sent any wrong messages.
