ok, i promise i haven't become a meme whore. but i was tagged for that five question meme by [livejournal.com profile] fera_festiva.

i can give you five questions if you want.

1) How did you first find out about slash, and what was your initial reaction to it?

i was around... 13 i think. i started out as a yaoi fan and how i found out about it was pretty funny, looking back. a classmate of mine was into this anime called slam dunk and she found some yaoi pics, which she printed out and took to school to show the rest of us, in a "hey guys look at this weird stuff!" way. most of my friends were all wtf about them and found them funny, but i was pretty intrigued by them and i asked her to give them to me and i took them home, lol. i still wonder what would have happened if a teacher had caught us with them. the pages had the web addresses printed on them and... the rest is history.

2) Where do you see yourself in ten years?

well, hopefully out of college and not starving or mooching off my parents. those are my two main goals atm. if i could support myself exclusively with my artwork it would be ideal, but i'm willing to work on something else, related or not, and dedicate myself to art in my spare time. a husband or boyfriend would be nice, but not necessary. no kids, but lots of friends and a cat or two, of course.

3) Tell me about your family.

i live with my mom, dad and three younger sisters.

my dad: is a lawyer. big, looks intimidating. drives everywhere and is inept at anything to do with housework/repair and power tools and mechanics. he has an explosive temper and is prone to yelling and kicking things and insulting and punching people when he gets angry. he also has a wicked sense of humor and ease with words, so he can make conversation with nearly anyone. his dream was that i would be a lawyer like him, but i killed that one pretty dead. i got my artistic ability mostly from him, but my mom's not half bad at painting either. he is a bit overprotective and my sisters and i have him wrapped around our little fingers (though i try not to abuse that ability too much...) but other than that a good parent.

my mom: slim and friendly-looking. i used to hate spending time with her, but now she's my main shopping buddy and shit. is a SAHM and she's the one that keeps the house working. she can use most of the power tools in my house and likes tinkering with electronics and mechanical stuff. is pretty open-minded and has a modern mentality and is the most relaxed parent, out of the two of them. lately, she's been becoming addicted to puzzle computer games and TV court shows, which are good for mother-daughter bonding time because we get to bitch at people's stupidity together.

sister 1: 18, in her last year of HS, wants to study dentistry. loves cars and driving, cellphones and pretty clothes. is the most tidy out of the four of us and she's always bitching at us if we leave clothes on the bathroom and unwashed dishes and stuff... even if she has done the same repeatedly. has lots of ditz moments much to the amusement of the rest of the family.

sister 2: 17, also in her final year (sister 1 repeated a year). has no idea what she wants to study and her world pretty much revolves around her social life. was a total bitch to everyone for about a year because of the dreaded teenage hormones. luckily she's calmed down now.

sister 3: 14, typical anime and emorockpunkwhatever fangirl. likes my chemical romance and fall out boy and that sort of crap. she reads RPS about them and i suspect she's into yaoi but i don't want to spy on her computer to find out. has said that she wants to study art but as far as i know has no artistic skill beyond tracing anime art. she's a good kid but listens to her crappy music way too loud when i'm trying to sleep.

we're mostly well-adjusted, really. the extended family is enormous and gatherings are fun, but tiring for someone quiet like me who prefers to be alone a lot of the time.

4) Which fic cliches do you like, and which ones bother you?

umm, my likes and dislikes change depending on what pairing or character or source material i'm reading about so i'm afraid i don't have an answer. :/ sorry, that was boring. if you want to specify i might have better luck answering.

5) Death is not an option. Snape or Count Grishnaaaaaaaaaaack (dunno how you spell it, can't be bothered to look it up)?

haha jeez. i don't know, i mean, old varg isn't bad looking (at least with the long hair he isn't), but what if he's into cutting his partners up or sacrificing them to the norse gods or shit like that? XD besides, he's a creepy neo-nazi so he wouldn't touch me with a bargepole.

i'd probably have to go with snape. varg can be batshit scary, but snape is just sort of pathetic compared to him. the worst he could do is call me lily. he can take a bath first, wear a paper bag on his head while i close my eyes and go "lalala i'm not really here" in my head, and obliviate me after he's finished (no need to return the favor, man, ugh no, really).

yeah-- i've known of people who've found out about it even earlier than me.

okay! here they go:

what's your happiest childhood memory?
how did you become a remus/sirius shipper?
least favorite color?
what do you think is your best quality?
what was your favorite game as a child?

Yeah, question 4 was a crap one - sorry about that. Uh... I was kind of tired yesterday? If you want you can always assume I meant R/S, or you can safely ignore it. :P

I'm impressed by your early slashyness. I think I realised boy/boy was kind of hot when I was about 17 (when I was a fag-hag and used to surreptitiously watch the guys making out with each other from my corner of the gay bar, heh) and then it was another few years before I found out there was anything out there for girls like us... hee.

Your family sound awesome, hug 'em all from me. :D

heheh, that's okay. well... r/s? i hate the mating for life cliche but if someone wrote a fic that used it in an innovative and plot-relevant way instead of as a source for cheap angst, i'd be all over that. i hate asshole!sirius/pining!remus and the typical cliches like chocoholic!bookworm!remus and allergic-to-books!sirius.

i go all wibbly for a sirius who's completely smitten and head-over-heels for remus and for experienced!sirius/virgin!remus. oh and my all-time guilty r/s pleasure are those fics where tonks dub-cons remus into having sex with her while she's transformed into sirius. i'm fully aware of how awful that is. D:

i've known people who started earlier than me! i thought 13-15 was the normal age of the newly-discovered slash fan, tbh.

Haha, for once I was a late developer (on the slash thing, I mean).

Never thought I'd say this but the Tonks/Remus/dub-con thing makes a ton of sense. Hell, their "relationship" is so dysfunctional as it is, a little thing like consent is hardly going to make a big difference...

haha! yeah but unfortunately liking that sort of thing gets you labeled a batshit delusional puppyshipper. oh well.

Shoot your questions :D

Your pa and mum sound absolutely precious and delightful (and how is it that parents could be SO much the same across oceans and continents?)

You have my full sympathies - I have to combat my teenaged nephew's overtly-loud music-of-a-questionable-taste every single day of my life.

Also, large extended-family gatherings are WIN!

it must be one of life's great mysteries!

ok. your questions are:

what's your favorite thing about the place you live in? it can be street, neighborhood, city, country... take it however you want.
favorite smell?
least favorite harry/draco cliche?
if you could live anywhere in the world, where would you go?
favorite season of the year and why?

Oooh, I want some questions. :D

your questions are:

is there any particular smell or sound that reminds you of your childhood?
favorite decade of the 20th century, fashion-wise?
what do you think is your worst defect?
any remus/sirius-related pet peeves?
are you a morning person?
