first off, happy birthday to
elsane. we don't know each other very well, but i wish you were around more often to talk to! :]
haven't done much this week. the work is already piling up and i'm too tired to get any inspiration to do anything else, i still haven't gotten used to waking up early in the morning and sleeping enough to not start running out of steam by lunchtime. and my hair has been bothering me but i can't work up the extra energy to go to the hairdresser.
i think i need a new project. my
daily_deviant can be done in about a day or two, i don't want to draw it so soon or else i'll get itchy posting fingers. i think i'll take a look at that WIP list and take a sketchpad to school to doodle during lunch hour. gmail chats with
red_squared (if anyone wants to add me, acct. name is entrambos) are a goldmine of cracky ideas, but i don't feel very funny lately.
oh, and hi to
paulamcg if she's still around, and to all the new people who have friended me these past few days.
this was told to me by another classmate. so apparently the bigwigs in santiago city are trying to close us down (only 2 of the 7 or so departments in the branch of the university i'm in accepted new students this year) and very underhandedly too. the minimum number of students needed to form a new year for the art department was 15. 15 new students had been admitted, but there was some meeting during the summer, most likely only weeks before the start of the school year, and the minimum was raised to 25. so, to put it plainly, they fucked us over.
but that's not all-- looks like the ex-first years are going to sue the university for breach of contract. it does indeed look like they didn't warn the students about this situation until a week before the start of classes, when it was obviously too late for them to do anything about it. the art department tried to relocate them to other art schools. i only know of one of them that transferred, because she lives with one of my classmates. the only options the people from santiago gave them was either transfer to santiago with 50% scholarship (which doesn't sound so bad until you consider that most if not all the students traveled from distant cities to study here, and had already had made living arrangements and everything) or take their money back and get lost (which is really bad exactly for the same reason).
so, essentially, we're going to be the last crop of students to come out from the valparaiso branch of my university (valparaiso being a city, for the lost) and the guys from santiago are dicks. we sort of suspected it already, but this confirms it.
edit: on the plus side, and on a rather shallow note, i did buy a bitchin' pair or much-needed jeans. unfortunately not in any wacky colors, but i am considering another pair in a lovely toned-down fuchsia that reminds me of berries. i need to stock up on the winter clothes, i always seem to be short on them and summer died a sudden death this year.
