the forehead-slapping continues
is there an equivalent of godwin's law for other dictators? because i saw a pro-vegan flyer on my way home that compared meat eaters to stalin.

Well, as a meat-eater I regularly send people to Siberia, so it's pretty accurate.

(Wait, what)

also: i'm sure the cold would help preserve the meat... i don't know what i'm talking about anymore.

I saw a bumper sticker once that said: "I LOVE ANIMALS: THEY'RE DELICIOUS."

You need to stick that over the flyer.

I HATE it when people impose their feelings/political views on others via name calling. I once had a woman tell me that keeping pets was the same as having slaves, so I was a slaveholder. WTF? I highly doubt that ANY of my pets could be compared to slaves. Frankly, they live pretty damned good lives and, from what I understand, slavery doesn't involve sitting around all day, playing with toys, eating expensive food, and getting lots of attention.

wtf my cat lives better than anyone in my house. slaves indeed.

not to mention how many of these "slaves" would die if people were to set them free.

I once saw "If we're not supposed to eat animals, then why are they made of meat?"

Which I found kind of LOLtastic.

I hear you; I was vegan for bunches of years, and eat meat again now (but humanely raised local stuff and am bracing for ridicule), and although there are decent argument for a meat free diet, the analogy [personal profile] spacefragments saw is not one of them.

ETA: Fuck it, of course this has a typo.

Indeed. I think it's also the kind of person certain vegans/vegetarians are; if they are the type to press their beliefs of "meat is murder" on other people.

well, see, they need to pop their mouths off about meat eaters because they feel bad about themselves being so unhealthy. it's kind of like a childhood bully compensating for his poor self-esteem.

Do they really think us carnivores are going to see that and go, "Well, fuck! I didn't realise!" and throw down our burgers? Not the most effective way of converting the meat-eaters. We eat animals; we're made of sterner stuff than that. :)
