bawwwww

okay so uh... i read a few reports of misha and julie's panel on collectormania and misha got asked about jimmy and he said that it would be strongly implied that he was still around in a future episode. which makes me squirmy and not in a good way. i mean, i like jimmy. but... really. why bring that up *now*? why didn't cas say anything earlier, why didn't sam and dean ask earlier? so jimmy being alive is either so important that it had to be kept secret until the episode (doubtful) or they're just making it a relatively unimportant detail. or something. idek.

mostly i'm tryng to come up with a ton of scenarios.

* he's alive and kicking and apparently dean talking cas into using his body to have sex with a hooker doesn't matter at all HA HA wtf (i guess he could have given cas permission but idk)
* he's alive and kicking but he's going to get killed somehow in that same ep
* he's alive but cas didn't know it because he was/is comatose or whatever, poss. couldn't tell due to the loss of angel mojo
* he's alive and undamaged which means the possibilities of him going home to his family and cas going back to heaven never to be seen again when the season finishes increase. :[ call me a bad fan or whatever but i doubt i'd watch a 6th season if cas isn't around. :|

of course any of these would make writing dean/castiel a bit (more) difficult, but there have always been ~ways~ around the jimmy issue, so i'm not overly worried.

and lets not mention the anna/castiel panel wtfery which just makes me go ಠ_ಠ

so all of this combined with this dull, uneventful crapfest of a day, has got me feeling a little down. i'll go out and spend my birthday money tomorrow see if that cheers me up some.

(by the way, i just had to request an extension for my [livejournal.com profile] deancas_xmas deadline. fml.)

Oh I'm totally with you on the emotions thing. After all, isn't emotion the root of action? Why else would Cas have chosen to go rogue, if not for his feelings (however they may be interpreted) for Dean? And definitely yes on the Cas slowly becoming human thing. The way I see it, angels feel emotions but on a plane much different than humans do... idk if that makes sense at all, and who knows if that's even remotely close to what the writers were going for, but yeah. *hands*

My beef with the angels WRT emotions starts when people start trying to use that as a basis for making Cas/Anna canon. I'm completely okay with angels showing emotion (Zach has certainly shown some, as did Uriel, Gabriel, and even Cas), but when it's used for such lame purposes as just another boring, heteronormative romance subplot - "Oh, Cas is fallen now, he's able to feel love and realize his ~true feelings~ for HIS FUCKING SISTER Anna! And oh, Anna knows what it's like to have human emotion, so they're so perfect!!!!1" - I'd rather be gagged, weighted, and tossed into the Ganges.

if they paired them up and completely glossed over the incest factor or came up with some bullshit "oh they're an exception and this is why" hand-wave.

What's terrifying is that I can honestly see them taking either of these routes, especially since Misha has stated several times that he'd really like to see some sort of romantic interest pop up for Cas at some point. UGHHH, STFU MISHA. I LOVE YOU BUT SERIOUSLY, NO, STOP IT, YOU ARE HURTING ME. DNFW.

A platonic brother-sister dynamic would be very cool, or even a commandant/subordinate soldier thing (though that would be harder to pull off since Cas is basically working solo now - he's not under anyone's command but his own.) I would love for that "history" they mentioned to be a platonic thing that related somehow to Anna's previous position in the hierarchy and her choice of falling/how it affected those she was in command of at the time. That would be so much more interesting than "oh hey btw they used to be ~in love~, even though they're noncorporeal, genderless siblings."

I liked the idea of Anna too, but imho her story should have ended when she was re-angeled in the barn. Like you, I like the idea of her, but it's the execution that I have a problem with. Nothing against Julie McNiven or anything, but she's just... dull, and seems kind of extraneous to me. If they had her play a bigger role in the apocalypse as a badass warrior angel instead of a love interest for Dean (and now, possibly Cas D:), I'd love to see her around more. But, well. Yeah.

In conclusion, I'm just gonna go back over here in my happy corner and eat candy and dream about OTP!porn. \o/

OMG I TEXTWALLED YOU, I'M SO SORRY. :$

LOL I ENJOY TEXTWALLS IF THEY HAVE TO DO WITH CAS.

What's terrifying is that I can honestly see them taking either of these routes, especially since Misha has stated several times that he'd really like to see some sort of romantic interest pop up for Cas at some point.

uuughhh. no. i already have to deal with crappy romantic subplots in my other fandom (merlin) i don't want to have to put up with them in spn too. BESIDES, CAS IS A BIT BUSY. with all he's doing, including a romance for him would be... too much. esp. since in my opinion it would require a more careful development than it would be possible at this point. i wanna see him get more screentime but not because of THAT. whether it's anna or some random girl.

if they MUST give him a love interest, why don't they wait until the supposed 6th season (provided they keep misha). i can postpone the vomiting and the screaming and throwing of things to the wall until then.

of course, this all changes if cas' love interest is DEAN, because they already know each other, and they have a strong, established relationship that doesn't code as incestuous and that's not all that difficult to take further even if it never moves beyond mutual non-acknowledged attraction, but then i hit myself with the reality cluebat and remember that a) it's never going to happen and b) even if it happened, it would no doubt end horribly.

(i always get myself into these messes. i go for the pairings that "could almost" be canon and inevitably set myself up for disappointment. why can't my OTPs be crazy shit that doesn't have a remote chance of ever happening?)

seems kind of extraneous to me.

well yeah. after the got re-angeled her appearances were kind of weird. it was like, "pop out of thin air for info dump/trying to convince cas to rebel, disappear". and after cas fell, her role was kind of made obsolete. at least they're giving her something different to do this time.
