i assumed i would have the smith/2014!c pice already finished, but... well, shit happens. thanks to the people who linked to reference pics when i asked for them though, they've really helped.

i was thinking of maybe doing spn_reversebang with it (or do another smith/2014!cas that's less obviously shippy), but i dunno. i've been so slow lately. a big part of me would rather not commit to anything and just work on things at my own pace. but i miss doing fests too.

so, things:

+ spn_j2_bigbang sign-ups started today for authors and artists. i'm still unsure if i'll sign up or not. i want to, but i've sucked at fests lately. i have plenty of time to decide, though.

+ blindfold_spn has a new prompt post. i'm up to nine prompts already and trying to come up with more. :p

+ spn_kink_art was created today as a kink meme for art fills. some of us artists on the anon meme were sad that we couldn't play on blindfold, so nursethalia was kind enough to create this comm. so go and leave your prompts for kinky art :)

• i dropped out of spn_reversebang. i just... wasn't feeling it. i'm a bit sad about it, because i really wanted to use this as a chance to branch out a bit, but i completely lost interest in my own idea along the way. :/

• i'm not completely recovered yet, fuck knows why, but i'm going to indulge in some independence day celebrations anyway. kind of ridiculous that it's celebrated this month since our true declaration of independence happened in february 1818, NOT in september 1810, so this "200 years of independence, party hard" is just... yeah. but i guess changing it now would be pretty pointless. anyway, normally i wouldn't bother, especially since 2010 has been a pretty crap year for the country in a lot of ways, but i'm sick of being cooped up at home or at the apartment. so i'm going to go out, drink some booze for a change, and eat some asado.

• i'm halfway into my 4th consecutive playthrough of re4. i'm playing professional mode. i plan to go for a fifth after i'm done. D: I'M AN ADDICT. i admit that i chickened out and put ashley in the indestructible suit or armor but i don't care because unffff yes to leon in his mobster suit.

• there might be d/c art in the near future. man, has it really been over a month since the last one?

so i'm done with school for the semester. i now have a little over 2 weeks of vacations. i don't really feel like talking about it because today was my last final and i presented a piss-poor project and my teachers didn't have a single positive thing to say about it and blaaah after 5 minutes of moping i got over it. i'm dropping out of that class next semester anyway. whatever.

i'm still going to be pretty busy. here's my list of stuff to do/stuff i'd LIKE to do

- finish spnrarepairs art. which is about 80% done. i really need an art beta for this, any takers? i only ask that you GET BACK TO ME after i email you the artwork, it's happened before that some of you offer and i never get an answer. srsly, guys.

- do some more work on red_squared's help_chile commission
- come up with something for spn_reversebang WHY DID I EVEN SIGN UP FOR THIS
- draw fera_festiva's ridicuously late bday art, oh god fera i'm so sorry
- draw something for annundriel because she keeps listening to me when i plant fic ideas into her head and for sekritly writing two of my blindfold_spn prompts
- possible mini collab thingy with emerald_embers (i dunno when that will happen though)

i will also maybe make plans to see my poor abandoned friends and see snow up close irl for the first time in my 23 years of existence.

!!!!! omg. i'm so incredibly tempted to leave a prompt for a SPN/eternal darkness fusion BUT i don't know how to fit both dean and castiel (& sam because i want him there too) in the ED canon which only has one main character on screen at a time with very limited opportunity of interaction with others. ARGH if only they allowed for crossovers aside from fusions my original idea would be easier to tweak. ;___;

so, as it stands, my holiday fest plans are a) camelotsolstice and rs_small_gifts. i... am in temporary hp burnout mode, so i'll take a rest and just do one fest in the fandom this year, i think. does anyone know if there is any holiday exchange for dean/castiel? maybe not, cause there's one in progress that is still posting. hmmm. :/ i assume there must be an all-pairing fest of some sort (haven't checked) but i'd rather play it safe and stick to one pairing. it'd be nice to do something in the 3 fandoms i'm currently active in.

• speaking of fests, i kinda failed at bigbangblackout. i only completed 5 of the 7 illustrations i had planned, and all of them are gen (not that there's anything wrong with gen, but it *was* an r/s fic). on the upside, i am pretty happy with the ones i did finish.

• i am thinking of watching an anime series for the 1st time in 6 years. huh.

• yanno, hate to sound bitchy on this, but i'm kinda sick of hearing that everyone should ship ot3/4/whatever because that would solve all shipping wars, etc. i know it's said as a joke (most of the time, at least), but for someone who thinks 3somes/moresomes are one of the most boring things ever to read about, it gets old fast.

after nearly boring myself to tears with the first 2 seasons (i skipped most of them), i'm finally getting into s3. i'm already on ep. 9 and i have yet to skip one. i like ruby, even if she does end up being evil in the end. i don't like bel(l?)a. she can diaf. and dean is an obnoxious asshole and i got sick of watching him sleaze it up after... two episodes... but at least now i can sympathize with him. he's interesting and i generally like him, but sometimes i just want to shove his head into a wall repeatedly. sam's okay, i guess. or as okay as he can be dealing with his delightful fuck-up of a brother on top of his own issues.

i'd make a reaction post like i did with merlin but my thoughts are sort of scattered and nonsensical and most include me wanting to smack dean someone or laughing at random stupid shit, so no.

now i have to go slog through 100000000 dogdaysofsummer posts to do my rs_prophet issue. the thought alone is enough to depress me. mope, mope. WHY ARE YOU PEOPLE SO PROLIFIC.

as an aside, is nest_of_spiders running again this year? i had so much fun with it last year.

and after *that* i'll try to another illustration for BBB. it's not like i haven't done *any*! as a matter of fact i've finished 3, but i had plans for this shit and they're kind of not moving at the speed i was hoping they would. but i shall persevere, worry not. especially with red_squared dangling fic in front of me as an incentive.

1- I HAS ACHIEVED SUPERNATURAL. dunno when i'll start watching, hopefully soon. i decided to give myself an extra week of vacations so maybe i can use it to catch up in time for the next season. i hope i like the series otherwise this whole thing will feel like an epic waste of time. :x

ok. good news:

i'm up to episode 4 and i understand 90-95% of the dialogue. i have to listen with the volume pretty high, though.

not-so-good news:

i haven't found it to be particularly slashy... well aside from the "faster, go faster" bit which made me lol a bit. and the dragon fanboy. i think i'm feeling the gwen/morgana vibes more than the merlin/arthur ones atm. could it be an ESL thing or do i need to upgrade my slash googles? not that it matters since i have one foot set firmly on the ship already (yes, i broke and read some fic. whatever. right before i got to the episode with merlin begging arthur to fuck him climb that rock wall faster. which uhhh. didn't help with the loling and the brain making a dive-jump to the gutter.)

arthur is very dracoish though. because he's such a little bitch. but merlin (who is totally adorkable and smooshable) puts up with his bullshit too much to be harry. :D

i think i'll watch another episode before going to bed. even though i really shouldn't.


in other news i finished my hp_toujours assignment and i sort of adore it. it's not a terribly exciting idea but OMGGG FLAIL YAYHAPPYLOVE.

to my rs_prophet peeps: sorry, i totally flaked out on my issue yesterday. i should have done it since i got back sooner than planned, but i just didn't feel up for it. :/

i've finished with my hp_toujours sketch, i hope my recipient likes it. i'm kind of rusty, i've had a really hard time drawing simple poses and characters i'm well familiar with. i can't even remember what my rs_games prompt is. i seriously need to get on top of that soonish.

i want to get cracking on my bigbangblackout art later this week (hi mindabbles!), ugh, i'm so scattered i want to draw like 5 things at once. i have been chatting at length with red_squared about the sordid business of modding BBB and a bit with gryffindor_j about assignments.

i'm also making progress on the "art book" i'm putting together... okay, so it only has 8 pages at the moment. but that's 4 more than it had yesterday! i should draw bigger. :/ i'm only making one edition because i don't know if i could take it to a copy center without dying of shame.

in other news, i had to get a facebook account. i feel dirty.

after finishing with my hd_worldcup piece i will not want to draw forests ever again for the rest of my life.


the good news is that i'm 40% done! this might be my most ambitious piece yet. the thing will be 40-45 panels in total, probably over 10 pages. i'm drawing panel #19 now. if my attention span were any longer, i'd have at least 30 done by now.

i'm thinking certain angst!whores i know will like it.

• i had forgotten exactly how satisfying and fulfilling it feels to spend an entire day working on my own original art, instead of doing fanart all the time. i am slightly sick of glue now, though. and my hands smell of chlorine.

• i have a deadline for daily_deviant now. still not fully convinced that joining in the first place was a good idea, but at least it won't affect anyone if i find out that i can't get inspired.

• i'm getting worried about hd_worldcup. a month until the deadline and i have made zero progress.

some recs:

• harry and draco by furipon (g). other than the fact that the characters seem to have switched expressions with each other, it's a perfectly lovely piece. i only wish i could do "flat and quicky and doodleish and uninspiring" like that.

• the potters at home by minnow_53 (pg-13). harry/ginny, harry/?
Witch World calls them the perfect couple. But Harry is seeing someone else, and Ginny is in love with the bottle.
a really heartbreaking look at a relationship that falls apart slowly and quietly. even ginny haters will find it hard not to empathize with her here.

guess who's finally working on their springsmut assignment. OH YEAH. i'm working sort of simultaneously with that h/d sketch i posted (which i had to re-draw because the original was one of the few things in my fanart folder i didn't back up. that slowed me down considerably). the h/d is looking way more tempting than the springsmut one, mainly because it's so much simpler. i don't know why i get myself into these problems, guys. ahhh.

i don't know how much i can talk about it, but i'll say two things:
-it involves more than two people
-one of the characters involved is one i've never drawn before. the others i have, just not often.

if you want to guess, give it a try! it's not like everyone and their grandma's pet cat won't be able to tell it's mine once it's posted. i can screen comments. and, you know, not tell you if you got it right or not. 8]

i still want to play mario kart a lot, though. and red steel. i should be better at it now that i've figured out the wiimote. we won't talk about the disaster that was my first attempt at that game.

other things. i found fleshdress's fic masterlist, which was great because when i tried to look for the fics directly in her lj there was some weird bug or something that directed me to a completely different post when i clicked on the cut. idek.

i finally could read this fic which i'd been wanting to for ages because YAY 4 crossgen!r/s, r/s with an age difference is my strange r/s kink and it's sort of hard to find, especially actual cross-gen. and also this one which, haha, reminded me that i had a thing for boys wearing girls' underwear, and this other one which is james/reg and hilarious, and yet another one that is AU and also james/reg and hilarious and hot and a bit adorable.

oh, and this other j/r (omg so happy -- me, not the fic) and lastly a nice bit of zelda gen (link, majora's mask) and this other hilarious link/sheik thing which cracks me up with every re-read.

i should be drawing. i'm *trying* to draw. but all i want to do is play mario kart instead. :│ i only have 10 days to finish my hp_springsmut assignment and i don't even want to look at it. FUCK.
