it rained a lot yesterday, and when i went out to the back garden today to hang some towels i noticed that the pool was really dirty. when i went closer i realized that the bottom was not only covered with dirt and leaves, but also covered with dead earthworms.

nice. so all the earthworms in the vicinity decided to commit mass suicide by throwing themselves into my pool.

since i didn't want the things to rot and disintegrate in the water, i got out the cleaning net thingy and got to work. i scooped up a clump of dirt, leaves and worms and when i brought it up to the surface it bore a disturbing resemblance to noodle soup. only the noodles were greyish and sort of see-through.

i also got out something that appeared to be a larva of some sort, (whitish, i thought it was a piece of paper or plastic) about as long and as thick as my index finger. i nearly tossed the net far, far away from me and went back inside. thankfully there was only one.

eventually i soldiered on and got nearly all the bastards out. i had to hit the net against a tree trunk and a wall to dislodge the worms, and of course they stuck to the trunk and stayed there. i really did gag when i had to get them out of the wall, even if i didn't have to touch them to do it (the ones in the tree stayed there). then i went back inside and washed my hands like 3 times.


and completely forgot about hanging the towels.
